The concept for Johannes Luley's latest album "Follow Your Heart" was conceived during the early month of the pandemic. This gorgeously produced collection of tunes show yet another facet of Johannes' colorful career as an artist and guitarist. It showcases compositions by ECM allumni John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler, Eberhard Weber, Manfred Schoof and Ralph Towner, as well as a couple of compositions by John McLaughlin and the Miles Davis classic "Blue in Green".

Johannes is accompanied by two excellent Swedish musicians, Jonas Lindeborg on trumpet and flugelhgorn, and David Hughes on upright bass. His Perfect Beings band mate Dicki Fliszar is playing the drums, and Max Kaplan plays soprano sax as well as bass clarinet. The resulting record continues Johannes' trademark production sound. The music breathes and blossoms with each listen. Don't miss out on this modern sounding musical gem.

Wonderful, beautiful, densely layered music. I'm glad I gave this album several headphone listens before commenting. It did not immediately strike a chord with me, but the more I listened the more I began to understand and appreciate how fantastically rich and deep the sound is. Whilst delivering well crafted music, unless you focus on the lyrics, you could miss the story lines. This is the last of the war trilogy, so subtle ,but so poignant. Superb music with broken road and Holding On ,on permanent repeat. Listen and become enthralled. Top quality song writing and musicianship.10/10 kzra
